This is Linda... my guest this last nine days.  No, she didn't make this climb here on Kauai, but I loved the picture, so I had to share it.

Linda had such a great time and I really enjoyed getting to know her.  An amazing adventurer.

Linda left the cottage at 7am every morning and didn't return until after 10pm each night.

She doesn't know this but the first night I was scrambling looking for her cell phone and thinking about calling the police as I was sure she was lost somewhere on Kauai. LOL

But, after that I realized she was probably my most extreme guest.  She did just about EVERYTHING on Kauai

She had quite a few favorites but she for sure wanted to share about the photo tour she took.  I'd never heard about it and was totally excited to hear about this great trip.  She will be sharing soon on Trip Advisor... so watch for her review. 11/11 UPDATE:  I've had two more guests go on this tour and they love it!.  Dawn

We take you to Kauai's most Spectacular Photo Locations! See Kauai through the eyes of a professional photographer. A fun Kauai Activity.

Sam Moved out :(  But great news, she is living on a farm in Kilauea.  She's learning all about goats, goat cheese, milking, gardening and just about everything on the farm.  She is love'n it.  I miss her living with me but look forward to my daughter owning her own farm one day soon.

The tsunami was a great exercise in preparedness.  We had a couple here to walk through the process and they did great.  They really got into it.  I moved canoes from the harbor area, with the trailer, from 6am to 9:30 when they closed the roads.  Then returned back later in the day to move some back and others to another location for a different race.  Ours was cancelled, of course, but the Sunday special event went as planned.

Sam, Heather, Tina, and Makoa (the dog) did the hard stuff while I was gone.  Filling the propane, getting some groceries.  When I came back we had a nice cookout with the guests.  Fun day, but hard work.
Thank goodness that was all there was.

Photos: Derek & Erin, our Tsunami guests - Sam & friend Tina (the fantastic cook during our adventure) as we try to take a look at "surge" from up the road a bit.

Janine & David, from Oregon, called the day they got home from Kaua'i.  It was 6 degrees and their water line broke in the car when they started it at the airport.  You know what?  Janine was only excited to ask about Makoa (the dog) and how the new kitchen setup was faring than about having to tow their car home after a long journey.  Kaua'i does that to you. It makes you feel renewed.  But, you know, it's not just about living in paradise, it's about getting to run a vacation rental on Kaua'i and meeting people like Janine & David.

On their last day they totally redid the kitchenette in the Cottage.  Can you believe they run a business doing custom cabinetry and fixed ours on their vacation?  Ok, maybe a little bit workaholics.  They put in a new sink and faucet, replaced and tiled the counter, reset the frig to a decent location and built shelves to hold the microwave and the pots and pans.  They are amazing and we were so blessed to have them!

Thank you both!

I put an advertisement on http://Craigslist.com in the Barter section and Andre Morozov,  from Alaska, answered the ad to carve a dolphin for the front entrance to Kauai Dawn Cottage & my home.  In December, 2008 I advertised a coconut tree carving.  He up using some wood I could get and carved a fantastic Spinner Dolphin and mounted it on the coconut tree.  It was a fantastic opportunity to see work in progress and I loved hosting Andre, his wife, daughters, and mother.  I feel so blessed to have received this carving.

This is Elena and Grant from Germany.  They stayed in the cottage this last December, 2008.

They took a couple of adventures on Kauai that were pretty fantastic.

One, they went on a helicopter tour... not just any tour but one where they remove the doors and there are only 3 passengers. They had the most amazing time!

Second, Elena & Grant did a Deep Sea Fishing Adventure w/ This is the trip I want to take this next year, the fish they shared with me were ONO!
